10.1.25 // million dollar idea, first OFFICIAL blog entry, freezing cold
Million dollar idea: detachable sweatpants. It all started two weeks ago, when I was on the phone with Rae. I was packing for my smith+middlebury tours, and I needed to pack one pair of pj pants.
We were crossing into Boston, and Boston's cold as balls (before you say, “Botsons not that much colder than NYC” – I know, and I do not care. Just let me finish.). But if I brought pj shorts and not pj pants, I would be too cold to get out of bed in the morning (no matter how warm it was). But if I brought pj pants instead of pj shorts I would be too hot to fall asleep.
Typically in the morning, my strat is to fall asleep in shorts and keep a pair of sweatpants next to me. But I didn't have the suitcase room to pack a pair of shorts and sweatpants. Here comes the million dollar idea…
Zip on sweatpants! You know those (atrocious) zip on cargo pants? Which have a zipper at the mid-section of each thigh where you can zip-on and zip-off the pant part? Imagine that, but sweatpants. That way, you could wear the short version when you’re sleeping, and zip-on the pants when you wake up! And cute ones too – like the brandy ones or that pair I have from Airport Junction in Botswana. Maybe I'll make a demo with brandy sweatpants. The bots ones are too dear to me, and I cant really just take a quick little 20 hour flight if (/when) I horriblly mess up the zipper-sewing job.
